NIGHT GLOW - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Is there a postponement date for the Night Glow?
A: The postponement date will be Sunday 17th April 2022.
Q: Will there be gate sales?
A: There will be no gate sales. Buy your tickets through Eventfinda
Q: How will this event operate under the COVID-19 Protection Framework?
A: The Wairarapa Balloon Festival will be adhering to the Government Covid Protection Framework. The framework involves a traffic light system, with red, orange and green levels. Under this framework the event will only be able to go ahead if we are at a green or orange level.
All event goers, staff, volunteers and event organisers will need to be fully vaccinated. All attendees must show their vaccine pass on arrival at the event. Tickets will not be refunded where ticket holders do not comply with New Zealand Government mandates.
At a Green level:
Events and gatherings can run without number limits
All customers’ My Vaccine Passes must be sighted, and recommend to be verified
At a orange level:
Events and gatherings can run without number limits.
Face coverings are encouraged.
All customers’ My Vaccine Passes must be sighted, and verified.
At a red level:
The event will either be postponed or cancelled.
Q: What will happen if it change to the Red level, and this event has to be cancelled?
A: If COVID 19 affects the running of the event then refunds will be available for tickets purchased. The Wairarapa Balloons Society will be implementing the industry best practice guidelines at this event. We take the safety of our community and visitors seriously and will always follow health guidelines. We will have contact tracing, hand washing and sanitiser available. If you are unwell or have been unwell or potentially in contact with someone with COVID 19 please do not attend the event.
Q: Will the hot air balloons be flying at the Night Glow?
A: The balloons will not be airborne for the Night Glow; they are tethered on the ground, and will glow in unison to music.
Q: Can we have a hot air balloon ride at the event?
A: Ballooning Canterbury will be offering flights during the five day festival. They will start taking bookings in early 2022. Rides will be limited, so bookings are essential. To keep up to dates on when these will go on sale, sign up here. There are no balloon rides at the Night Glow.
Q: Can the weather affect the balloons?
A: Yes, weather does influence the performance of the balloons. Hot Air Balloons prefer light winds to be able to perform to their full potential. If the balloons cannot inflate at the Night Glow due to the wind the pilots will perform a burner glow. All other activities outlined for the Night Glow will continue, providing plenty of fun and entertainment. We also have a postponement date in place, to give us the best chance of providing you with a superior balloon performance.
Q: Will there be a refund on pre-purchased tickets if the balloons are unable to perform or the Night Glow is postponed?
A: There will be no refunds on pre-purchased tickets if the Balloons do not perform, or if the event is postponed. An announcement will be made no later than 8pm Friday 15th April. Postponement dates is 17th April, weather dependent. The performance of the balloons may be affected, but all remaining activities will continue. Q: Is there free parking?
A: We have good free onsite parking with a great crew who will do everything they can to make accessing and exiting the event as smooth as possible. We are working with our traffic management team to ensure traffic flows the best it can, however, traffic may slow at times, please be patient. Traffic from the North (Masterton) to come via Norfolk and Chester Road. Traffic from the South to enter Chester Road at the Showgrounds corner with SH2. We recommend arriving at the event early, as activities start at 4pm sharp.
Q: Can we see the balloons without entering the event?
A: No you will need to purchase a ticket to enter the event to see the balloons. They will be unable to be viewed from outside the venue, due to their unique positioning.
Q: Is there facilities for the disabled?
A: Yes, we have a disabled parking area and disabled toilets
Q: Is there overnight parking for the motorhomes?
A: Yes we have overnight parking for self-contained motorhomes. Bookings are essential. Click here for details and to book.
Q: Is there an ATM at the Night Glow?
A: No, but most of the food vendors will have their own eftpos facilities. We also encourage you to bring cash.
Q: Can we bring in food and drink?
A: We have an amazing line up of food vendors at the event. You are also welcome to bring a picnic. We will be conducting bag searches.
Q: Can we bring our dog?
A: No, this is not a dog-friendly event; the balloons will scare them. You will not be allowed access with a dog, no matter its size.
